BluegrassGentlemen

At the time of this recording, the Williamson Brothers' band included Bill Mollman on bass, Gene Craven on fiddle and Nick Hancock & Michael Auman on guitars.  The material on the album is authored by the band themselves, and has a folky, traditional bluegrass sound with elements of country.  The album consisted of two sides.  Side 1 (the first 6 tracks)  is all instrumental, and Side 2 (the last 6) were vocal driven compositions featuring Auman singing lead and The Williamson Brothers debuting their famous brother harmonies.  Highlights include a hot instrumental called ‘Phantom Ridge’, an introspective song called ’Timeless Mountain’, and the haunting ‘Devil’s Tramping Ground’, in which the lyrics explore the local myths and legends surrounding a campground in Bear Creek of the same name.

This classic recording launched an illustrious career for both Tony and Gary Williamson.  Since its release, they have been a touring, professional musical group and continue to receive accolades from the music community, win awards, release ground breaking recordings, and delight audiences around the world with their original style of beautiful music.  Enjoy their origins here and learn where it all began.  Download on iTunes, Amazon mp3, GooglePlay, and most other music and mecia outlets today.  See these legends begin to take flight in the very first studio recorded offering from The Williamson Brothers and their companions!
